In-Out Center Amsterdam. Scarce set of silkscreen posters, 1972

Extremely rare collection of four silkscreen posters announcing the very first show at the now legendary In- Out Center in Amsterdam (1972-1974). Edition size unknown, but very small (fewer than 30 unique copies), hand-printed by In-Out Center members at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. Comprises: (1) Orange text and green printed background on white stock, 34 x 50 cm. Very good copy. (2) Orange text on blue card stock, 35 x 50 cm. Creases to lower right corner, mild aging to surface and edges, generally very good. (3) Orange text on cream textured printmaking paper, 53 x 43 cm. Some minor handling marks, torn edges as issued. Good copy. (4) Orange text on red-brown textured printmaking paper, 52 x 43 cm. Torn edges as issued, minor handling marks; otherwise in good condition. (total 4)

The In-Out Center was the first independent artist space in Amsterdam, focusing on everything that was new at the time, such as performances, video art, visual poetry, audio art, conceptual art and artists' books. Its nine members came from Latin America, Iceland and The Netherlands: Michel Cardena (Miguel Angel Cardenas), Ulises Carrión, Raul Marroquin, Hreinn Fridfinnsson, Sigurdur Gudmundsson, Kristjan Gudmundsson, Hetty Huisman, Pieter Laurens Mol and Gerrit Jan de Rook. Each member invited befriended artists to exhibit, contributing to the venue’s international character.
