All eleven issues of the first San Francisco based fanzine devoted to the emerging Punk and New Wave scene, published between 1977 and 1979, with No. 10 in reprint. Founded by writer and musician V. Vale (Vale Hamanaka aka Valhalla), the original keyboard player for the rock band 'Blue Cheer'. Folded newsprint tabloids, 44.5 x 29 cm, 16 - 28 pp, printed in b/w. Folded in two (as issued). Slight age-toning along the centerfold, generally a good set.
Fully illustrated with DIY graphics, photographs, artworks and text, featuring groundbreaking bands, artists and writers including The Sex Pistols, Devo, Iggy Pop, Dead Kennedys, The Ramones, Pere Ubu, Patti Smith, Jon Savage, Bruce Conner, William S. Burroughs, J.G. Ballard, John Waters, Russ Meyer, David Lynch et al. The reproduced issue No. 11 is an official fascimile published in 1988. The story goes that V. Vale, while working at City Lights Bookstore, received a donation from Allen Ginsberg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti to launch the zine, which later developed into the influential magazine RE/Search.
