Revon, Louis (1833-1884). Sketchbook containing 44 original drawings

Most pencil drawings, incl. 4 anatomical studies, two watercolour drawings of the brain, 5 watercolour ethnographical drawings, some (or all?) after T.S. Raffle's The History of Java, 3 drawings of machines w. manuscript explanations, some caricatures and various other illustrations. Contemp. hcl., oblong 4to. One leaf w. sm. tear, else in good condition.

Louis Revon was a member of the Académie des sciences, belles-lettres et arts de Savoie and conservator/ curator of the musée d'Annecy. For 31 years he built up its collections, adding a wide variety of ethnographical, anatomical and anthropological material.
