Doeser, Jaap (1907-1995). Collection of 50 photographs of Amsterdam
Most measuring approx. 18 x 24 cm but also including smaller photographs (trimmed), all w. stamp "Copyright Doeser Foto's Laren" on verso. Fascinating collection of photographs, apparently all taken in the late 1940s, depicting streets, individual buildings, interiors of bars with people enjoying themselves and lively street scenes. -and 18 other photographs relating to Amsterdam, incl. 10 photos stamped "Politie-Museum Amsterdam". Made for the work Rondom de Oude Kerk by W.J. Kossen and A. Rieger, published in 1948 by A.G. Schoonderbeek in Laren (Doeser's home town). Present in the lot is some documentation relating to the publication of the book, a.o. the prospectus for the book (mentioning "80 foto's van Jaap Doeser en oude prenten" and "35 tekeningen van Frans Boers", see the large lot of Amsterdam drawings for the book elsewhere in this section) and a typescript letter addressed to publisher A.G. Schoonderbeek, by the "Secretarie van H.M. de Koningin", signed M. Kohnstamm, dated The Hague, 1 Maart 1948", thanking the publisher for a collection of books on Amsterdam from 1945 onwards.
