Yoruba Gelede Masks, lot of three

Nigeria, probably mid 20th century. Hand-painted and carved wooden masks with elaborate movable scenes on top of the masks. One depicting copulation, another with a snake hunting a rodent, and another with a prisoner, a guard and a mythic creature. The scenes can be moved by small ropes hanging at the sides of the masks. Height varies between 20 cm and 50 cm. Collection Van der Mieden.
