Door L.C. Dudok de Wit [Kees de Tippelaar]. Niet in den Handel. Amsterdam, (Tresling & Co.), 1881, 44 p., with large folding coloured map of Java and 40 illustrations on 17 lithographed prints, inserted separately is an EXTRA folding print, original lithographic cover, small folio.

A very good and more than complete copy of this vulnerable, privately published publication. Inside shows some rust stains here and there, and some leaves loose(or loosening), spine reinforced with paper strip. The book has the following parts: "Reis door Oost-en Midden Java, met rijtuig of te paard van 1 juli 1865 tot 10 januari 1866", "Reis per stoomboot door de Molukken (...) van 16 januari tot 6 februari 1866", "Wandeltocht op het eiland Celebes door de Minahassa van 7 tot 28 februari 1866", "Wandeltocht op Java, Van Banjoewangie, over Anjer, naar Batavia van 1 mei tot 15 mei 1866", "Reizen in Oost-Indië, naar China, Japan en Amerika (2 november 1866 tot 22 april 1867)", "Wandeltochten van Amsterdam naar Parijs en Weenen (1 juni 1874 tot 30 juni 1875)", "Beelden van het eiland Java" (print part). Contains beautiful panoramas of Batavia, Soerabaja, Samarang and Soerakarta. The print of the frigate contains 16 hand-coloured flags with explanations and a letter print legenda with 100 ship details. The separately inserted extra print shows a man in a rowing boat like the one the author brought from Philadelphia to Amsterdam. Wikipedia has a short article about the author who is known under the nicknames of Kees de Tippelaar and De Wandelende Hollander (the Walking Dutchman).
