In libertine France during the Interbellum, 'glamour photographers' such as the successful Biederer brothers often created work exclusively for Victor Vidal. The brothers developed a distinctive style and produced fantasies in both photo and film. Because of constant police surveillance, they avoided signing their prints or adding identifying marks. Alexandre Dupouy has reconstructed their style and identified their oeuvre in his book City of Pleasure, 2007. The lives and careers of Jacques and Charles Biederer were tragically cut short in 1942 during the Holocaust. Their oeuvre is nowadays highly sought after by collectors of photographic history and erotic heritage. A collection of this magnitude rarely appears at auction. (total 42)
