Dorothy Herzka, Pop Art One

New York, Publishing Institute of American Art, 1965. Ingeniously designed fold out book with plastic spiral bindings. 19.5 x 15 cm. Text and 27 loose leaf plates housed in paper cover (originally sealed with a sticker by Lichtenstein).

The catalogue is one of the earliest documents of the New York Pop Art movement. With brief texts, photographic portraits and several plates featuring the work of Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, and Andy Warhol. Unfortunately the Lichtenstein explosion sticker that was used to seal the cover, is missing. Added: Pop Art: Do it Yourself. Diter Rot, Roy Lichtenstein, George Brecht et al. Düsseldorf, Verlag Kalender, Hansjoachim Dietrich, [1963]. In stiff laminated wrappers bound with a glued black cloth spine. (total 2)
