Londen, Jonathan Cape, 1947, first edition, 395,(1 blank),(1),(3 blank) p., beautifully bound in full light-brown Maroccan leather with ribbed, gilded spine, the plates embellished with gilded lines on in- and outsides (inside with tulips on the corners), signed "Bound by Bayntun / Riviere / Bath England", top and front cut gilded.

A magnificent copy of the first print, probably an uncorrected test print on spare paper, because the titles are of unequal size, as well as the titling of two pages at the end with the quite "Le este jardin? (...)". This is also the reason that the bottom cut is ungilded.
