Original water colour Gloria van Goes

Piet Wijn (1929-2010). Created for magazine Tina in 1977, for the winner of the drawing contest in the special Christmas issue. Beautifully detailed water colour, 39 x 28 cm. Still in original drawing book, as first page. The other leaves have been used by the (at the time) 13-year-old winner Anne Michaux.

All winners of this prize were asked by the biographer if they still possessed their prize and, if so, if they were perhaps willing to sell it. As a result, four copies were sold and once more distributed amongst collectors after the biography was finished. These four water colours have been auctioned over the past few years (see also auction 4, lot nr. 816, auction 5 lot nr. 815, auction 6 lot nr. 903 and auction 7 lot nr. 865). The other copies were considered lost or untraceable. This winner once decided she would not part from it, but when she coincidentally saw the other 4 auctioned Gloria van Goes water colours, she decided to sell it after all. The original letter and return envelope with stamp of biographer Olivier Sterk have been preserved and are added to this lot.
