[Book binding] Les Heures de la Très Sainte Vierge
Asnières-sur-Seine, Boussod, Valadon & Cie, 1895, "Édition de Grand Luxe tirée à trente Exemplaires", (8),272,(4) p., with 20 coloured photoengraved illustrations heightened with gold after Gullaume Dubufe (several with monogram "DD"), finely bound by Durvand in rich gilt blue-green (oasis) morcco, with decoration after Dubufe on front cover (with monogram DD), silk endpapers, all edges gilt (one protective sheet tender and frayed).
Very rare. Our copy is numbered with Roman number III, bound for "J.T." (monogram on inside front cover). Another copy we found (numbered 16 and less well-preserved) is bound in exactly this manner. The scene on the front cover was adapted from the illustration facing page 112 in the book and is already heavily leaning towards Jugendstil.
