[Militaria] Recueil van de militaire ordres van sijne Hoogheid den Heere Prince van Orange

The Hague, Jacobus. Scheltus/ Paulus Scheltus/ Paulus en Isaac Scheltus, n.d. (1688-1745), total of 32 issues ("nummers") in 1 volume (varying in size from 1 to 88 p., number 20 is incorrectly numbered 26), contemporary vellum portfolio binding with flap and leather tie, small 8vo.

A very special and complete convolute that looks like it was made yesterday, and with the earliest and latest publications more than half a century apart. From the register at the beginning (4 p., with list of the 32 issues) it appears that the first 7 "ordres" originally appeared in 1673-1674. However, the paging of these issues is consecutive, which means they were undoubtedly published later, as are several later numbers originally published between 1684 and 1688. Multiple subsequent issues have their own title page or have been dated at the end, such as number 8 (1705), 9 (1701), 12 (1688, originally 1684), 18 (1688), 21 (1700), 27 (1701), 28 (1704), 31 (1728) and 32 (1745), with the latter consisting of 6 leaves (11 p.) on 4to size, here bound along folded. Number 18 has by far the highest number of pages (80): "Geredresseerde Ordre op de Exercitie van de Militie , Den 6 September 1688". In PiCarta several similar convolutes are listed, though never as integral publication of the 32 numbers as with our copy.
