[Album Amicorum. Utrecht] Album amicorum for G.T. van der Capellen, Lord of Schonauwen,

with 240 pages numbered in pen of which 35 pages with handwritten contributions (mostly Latin) dated Utrecht 1753-1780 and with 2 drawings, finely bound by the "Parrot Bindery" (Utrecht, 1749 or 1755-1787?) in contemporary marbled and gilt calf, all edges gilt, oblong 8vo (12 x 19.5 cm.) (page 48 torn, top of spine damaged and top hinge slightly torn).

Contains one contribution by J.H. Tatum "Ter gedachtenis aan den Hoog Edel Wel Geboren Heere G.T. van der Capellen", attributed based on this contribution. For the binding see: Storm van Leeuwen, Dutch decorated bookbinding in the eighteenth century, vol. IIB, p. 784-806. Storm van Leeuwen mentions that only 3 bindings from before 1755 of this bindery are known to him, our copy (with contributions from 1753) can therefore be added to those. Contains a grisaille with Cupid scene by J.J. Sadelyn (1753) and a drawing in pen and watercolour with a scene of a monument of the friendship by R.J. van der Capellen (1762).
