Willem Breuker. Sigaar 70

(Towards a film as continuous static graphic projection. Made by Jeffrey Shaw and Tjebbe van Tijen). Original score, no place or date (1966), 28 one-sided leaves with music notation, original cover with title and name of composer, plastic ring-binding spine, 35.3 x 24 cm.

Waterstained in bottom right-hand corner of all leaves (incl. the pink cover, with subsequent pink stains at beginning and end); the ink of the music notation has slightly stained. Highly extraordinary and original experimental music score: at the beginning with normal music notation, but already from page 3 the notation becomes divergent. At the end the notation is completely free and has nothing to do whatsoever with traditional music notation. These are Breuker's first compositions for film. In PiCarta we found one copy of an edition of this work with the long subtitle as added in parentheses above (also repeated on leaf 16), published in Amsterdam by Schuytvlot reproductie, 1966. Our copy has the feel of a manuscript, but we cannot guarantee this. Printed or not, it remains an extremely rare item. With another 20 mostly small publications added. (total 21)
