Commanditaire Vennootschap V.A. Hillen & Co, Utecht, 1905.

All from the Historisch archief Streek- en stadsvervoer, with stamp. (total 4) *The Hillen car make is virtually unknown. Various publications mention that V.A. Hillen & Co. at Jutphaas built at least one car, possibly more, between 1911 and 1915. This probably concerns the so-called Renard trains, for which Comm. Venn.schap V.A. Hillen & Co. in Utrecht on 18 October 1905 received permit no. 2022. The Renard train consisted of a front car connected to additional cars for passenger transport. Initial orders were placed in France with the Parisian company Sureoni & Cie. The front car resembled a big passenger car with a PTO drive shaft as seen on modern-day tractors. Two or more omnibus trailers were connected to the front car for passenger transport. Each trailer in turn had its own propulsion thanks to the drive shaft of the front car. In 1905 the Renard train was publicly demonstrated in a large number of places such as the Utrecht area, Amersfoort, Wassenaar Alphen a/d Rijn and Haarlem. The press was eager to dive in.
