Amsterdam, Nicolaas I. Visscher, n.d. (after 1652), complete series of 12 numbered engravings (incl. title engraving), all but the title with printed "I.P. in(v)." and "CJV ex." (1x "CJ VIsccher ex."), all 17.5 x 24.5 cm. (leaf size 29.5 x 35 cm.).

All prints waterstained in the right half and numbered in pen in top right corner, second print with small tear in margin, prints 3-5 with vertical fold originating from the printing process. All prints with very wide margins and printer on paper with watermark fool's cap. PiCarta lists one copy (Rijksmuseum) with address of Gerard Valck, with the note that it concerns the third edition, preceded by a first edition by Bernhard Cleynhens and a second edition by Nicolaas Visscher in 1627. However, this is incorrect. We assume Claes Janszoon Visscher (1582-1657) published the series for the first time or wanted to do so, but we could not find any copies of this original edition from 1627. Our edition by his son Nicolaas Visscher I (1618-1679) must have been published after 1652, the year in which his father died and he took over his business. The editions by Gerard Valck (1652-1726) and Bernhard Cleynhens (1735-1779) follow our edition. The beautifully engraved series of Dutch regional inland ships (partly with profiles of (recognisable) cities in the background), contains besides the title (1) ship types with the following inscriptions: (2) "Vriesche veerschepen groot omtrent 38 Last"; (3) "Damloopers groot omtrent 16 Last"; (4) "Haring Buijsen groot omtrent 40 Last"; (5) "Overijsselsche Potten groot omtrent 36 Last"; (6) "Een Vracht-kaghe groot omtrent 6 Last"; (7) "Een Boeijer groot omtrent 44 Last"; (8) "Een Zeeuwsche Koch groot omtrent 11 Last"; (9) "Een Dogh-boot groot omtrent 8 Last"; (10) "Een Veer-kaghe varende van Amsterdam op Leijden groot omtrent 6 last"; (11) "Een Heude ofte Heu groot omtrent 20 Last"; (12) "Een Wijt-schip ofte Lichter groot omtrent 20 Last".
