[Militaria. Artillery] S.B. Ortt (ca. 1855-1933). "Extract uit tijdschriften."

Collection with handwritten extracts from magazines 1874-1880, consisting of 55 chapters bound in 6 volumes, altogether ca. 2,000 pages of unlineated paper, with table of contents for all parts in the first volume, here and there with detailed illustrations in pen, several folding graphs and many calculations, with in volumes 1-4 the name "S.B. Ortt" on the endpaper, in volume 5 and 6 a printed bookbinder's label of J.W. van Leenhoff & Zoon, Rotterdam, contemporary uniform half leather with gilt back with spine title, 4to (defects to bindings, leather dry).

With: Idem. "Aanteekeningen 1874-1881/ 1882-1884 betreffende de Artillerie." Collection similar to the former, ca. 1000 p., uniformly bound as the former in 2 volumes, both volumes with table of contents at the beginning, one with name of Ortt, the other volume with binder's label of Leenhoff. Exceptionally extensive manuscript on the artillery, a copy/ summary of (translations of) many (inter)national articles in that field. S.B. Ortt is probably the Rotterdam jonkheer and waterschout on whom some information can be found online. They very technically oriented manuscript was undoubtedly of service for the author's studies (total 8 volumes).
