King William I of the Netherlands (1772-1843). Signed, calligraphed appointment

Appointment on vellum signed "Willem" by the king, of Frans Joseph de Smet as attorney at the court at Dendermonde, dated 18 August 1818, with wax seal covered with paper and stamp "15 St[uivers]. Zuid Holland", besides the signatures of William I also signed by the Minister of Justice [Cornelis Felix] Van Maanen (he had nominated De Smet) and by Mr. J.G. baron de Mey van Streefkerk, 44.5 x 50.5 cm., folded.
