J. Slauerhoff. Oost-Azie/ Yoeng Poe Tsoeng [sic]/ (Fleurs de marécage).

Typed version, undated, ca. 1930, title page in India ink followed by 82 pencil-numbered leaves with typoscript on one side, bound in notebook-form to top of the bookblock, in floral cloth wrapper (spine faded).

Intriguing version. Slauerhoff wrote the poetry collection Oost-Azië under pseudonym John Ravenswood (here under his own name), the second title on the title page was supposed to have been Joeng Poe Tsjoeng, with a j. The block has been compiled as follows: Oost-Azie: p. 1-30, with altogether 31 poems, with on p. 30 a ToC of four Roman-numbered main parts: part I beginning with Herfst and concluding with Ochtend Yokohamabaai, part II titled Macao, beginning with De Jonken and concluding with Camoës, part III beginning with Manila and concluding with Sjantoeng Promontorium and part IV titled Korea, beginning with Korio-baai and concluding with Pjeng Yang. The part Yoeng Poe Tsjoeng (here correct), p. 31-70, with altogether 56 poems, begins with an introduction (1 p.) and concludes with a ToC (2 p.), the first poem is Wachten and the final poem is Lao Tse. The final part Fleurs de Marécage is not listed on the general title page and has the addition "(Alleen die gedichten, welke rechtstreeks in het Fransch [old spelling] zijn geschreven)". It covers p. 71-82, begins with a title page followed by 9 poems and concluding with a ToC (1 p.), the first poem is Érynne à Sapho, the final one Imprudence.
