Jo Elsendoorn (1915-2014) II

Memoirs/ scrapbooks in 15 homemade books named "Schering in Inslag" (vol. 5-20) and 18 doubles + 5 scrapalbums with collected articles + 4 volumes of memoirs/ scrapbooks "Internationaal Cultureel Centrum Opbloei en Ondergang" (each ca. 400 pp.) + several homemade books regarding his friend Jos Ruting, including an album with besides many copies also some of his drawings + two Holland Festival binders with archive early 1980s, also including several letters + a friendship book for his 80th birthday - and several other pieces.

From 1951 to 1977 Jo Elsendoorn worked for the Holland Festival as press officer and music programmer. He was an advocate of the avant-garde in modern music. As programme leader of music, a position he held since 1968, he introduced for example Olivier Messiaen, Luciano Berio, Morton Feldman, György Ligeti, Steve Reich and Philip Glass in the Netherlands. In 1969 he produced the Dutch premiere of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Stimmung. In the series of memoirs he reminisces about dozens of meetings with famous artists, writers and composers, including several good friends such as Willem Breuker. Of him in this archive also 2 printed copies of his composition 'Int Jofel doornig Elzenhout' with dedication to Elsendoorn and a double cd with dedication. The friendship album for his 80th birthday contains inserted contributions of e.g. handwritten composition in 2 pages by Willem Breuker, a note from Frans Brüggen, by Jasperina de Jong, a letter from Luciano Berio - and a composition in 1 line in fine-liner by Louis Andriessen.
