Jacobus Taurinus, Latin for Jacob van Toor (1576-1618), was a Dutch theologist and Remonstrant pastor and leader during the dispute between the Remonstrants and Counter-remonstrants. In his Brand-clock Taurinus defended the appointment of Conrad Vorstius, the successor of Jacobus Arminius as professor of theology at the university of Leiden. Taurinus fled to Antwerp when prince Maurice undertook military action against the Remonstrants, and died with Johannes Uytenbogaert at his side; (2) Korte antwoorde op een lasterlick schrift, onlangs uytghegheven, sonder naeme des autheurs, ghenaemt De Brand-klocke.
