[Rotterdam. Van Reyn. With rare part 2] Geschiedkundige beschrijving der stad Rotterdam;

en beknopt overzigt van het Hoogheemraadschap van Schieland; door G. van Reyn. Met platen en platte gronden. Rotterdam, widow of Van der Meer & Verbruggen, 1832/ (D. Bolle, 1869), 2 vols., XXXVI,405,(1),132,(3); (2),256 p., with large fold. lithogr. map and 18 (fold.) lithographed plates in the first part, 8 wood-engr. ills. in the second part, orig. printed boards/ disbound, large 8vo.

Both parts untrimmed. The almost always lacking, much later published second part lacks the title and without the final 10 pages published later, the part of which PiCarta notes: "In 1897 is daaraan nog een ontbrekend stuk toegevoegd, zie: Nieuwsblad voor den Boekhandel 64 (1897), nr. 40, p. 203." PiCarta places these pages between brackets ([p. 257-266]), as well as the date 1897 at the top of its description. In the introduction, the reason for the sudden ending of the text is explained: "(...) Daar het laatste vel met eenen afgebroken volzin over de Groote Zeevischmarkt eindigt, was ons de beschrijving toegezegd van het slot dier Vischmarkt (...). De belofte heeft men na het verspreiden van ons Prospectus, in November ll. ingetrokken (...)." Bookblock of the second part broken and covers missing; first vol. waterst. and sl. foxed; map loose and with tear. Binding worn at extremities and spine. The first systematic description of the history of the town, very rare in this almost complete state.
