Aktionsraum 1, Munich 1969 -1970

Extensive collection of flyers, leaflets, posters and press releases produced by the organizers of Aktionsraum 1 Munich, to advertise and document the abundant activities of the cultural initiative which existed only 12 months. All sheets measure 29.7 x 21 cm, mostly printed recto and verso. Added are 10 sheets which were not published as Aktionsraum 1 information sheets, but document activities held at other venues, such as the protest action 'Wir wollen die Vorstellungskraft in Aktion' at the Munich University and Art Academy, which features 18 b/w photos. Also added are several reference publications including 'Aktionsraum 1 oder 57 Blindenhunde, Munich, 1971' which is referred to in the extensive chronological list of flyers for this lot, available on request. The collection comprises 138 sheets (276 pp.) and includes an original Aktionsraum 1 folder (yellow cardstock with silkscreened title) published on occasion of the Nitsch-Action. All items are in very fine condition.

Aktionsraum 1 was an avant-garde collective in Munich, run by Eva Madelung, Peter Nemetschek and Alfred Gulden. It was concerned with actions, performance and participative projects, and offered a platform to a diverse range of art strains from all over Europe such as Vienna Actionists, Arte Povera and Yugoslav Conceptualism. Participating artists and collectives include stanley brouwn (statement for the Tatvan Project), Klaus Rinke, OHO-Group, Col Group, Günter Saree, Ben Vautier, Günter Brus (featuring the famous Zerreissprobe performance in 1970), Hermann Nitsch, Jochen Gerz, Tony Morgan, Boetti, Salvo, Fabro, Braco Dimitrijevic, Hans Haacke, Jan Dibbets and many more.
