[Beautifully blindstamped former chained binding] Oeconomia Bibliorum,

sive partitionum theologicarum libri quinque (...) authore D. Georgio Edero (...). His adiecimus partitiones Catechismi. Cologne, G. Calenius and estate of J. Quentell, 1571, 2 parts in one volume, (48),714,(1); (8),119 p. (partly using a cursive type), both volumes with woodcut title vignette and tailpiece, contemporary rich blindstamped pigskin across wooden boards, front with centered stamp with personifications of the 4 cardinal virtues, back board with centered stamp with personifications of the 4 theological virtues, both stamps surrounded by a double roll scroll border with biblical scenes and portrait medallions, ribbed back with title label, two finely finished copper clamps, folio.

Besides a few defects a very good copy, with owner's annotation of the Franciscans at Vienna. The back board has along the top traces of a chain. Strip with extensive description inserted: "Wohl erhaltener Plattenbilder-Einband mit der seltenen Gethsemane-Rolle, von der Haebler nur noch ein anderes Exemplar nachweisen kann. Zu den Doppelbildern vgl. K. v. Rabenau, Dt. Bucheinbände der Renaissance um Jakob Krause, Nr. 33 (ähnliche Darstellungen von Wenzel Dörffler, Wittenberg 1567)."
