Reset in binding with new endpapers; spine ends and outer corners of boards worn. With signature and purchase date of Michiel Buisman and annotation: "Deze uitgave niet bij Ullrich". Very rare, only 2 copies in PiCarta. Lovely and interesting English edition translated from German, published in Utrecht, with special approach: "Dat (...) dit leesboek (...). voor eenen eersten cursus der Engelsche taal, inzonderheid geschikt [is], en met veel voordeel door de jeugd, in hunne oefening van het Engelsch op de scholen, moge gebruikt worden, is de hartelijke wensch van den uitgever." From p. 341 the book therefore consists of an English-Dutch glossary; (2) De geschiedenis van Robinson Crusoe verkort, en tot het school- en huislyk gebruik geschikt gemaakt. Vlissingen, J.I. Amsterdam, G.W. Tielkemeijer, (1850), VII[=V],(1),104 p., with 6 handcoloured, lithographed plates, original (?) blindstamped and gilt-lettered cloth by H. Mondt (The Hague). Inside slightly soiled/ stained/ foxed, inside top joint repaired with tape (lacks flyleaf and possibly half title). And with another 4 Robinsonades, incl. one in Middelburg prize binding with lovely folding prize dated 1833. (total 7)
