Spine sl. tanned and with minor damage, yet still an attractive, untrimmed copy, very rare in the original publisher's binding. The first edition of this very popular emblem book for children appeared in 1789 as did the first part of our printing. Additionally included on p. 178 a list (2 p.) of the subjects, incl.: "het ontwaaken", "het wasschen", "het ontbijten", "het aankleden", "het schoolgaan", "het avond eeten", "het naar bed gaan", "de nijd", "de gierigheid", "de waarheid" and "de liefde".
