[Pharmacopoeia. Amsterdam] [Binding] Pharmacopoea Amstelaedamensis renovata
Amst., Pieter van den Berge, 1726. (8)124,(8) p., w. large engr. title-illustration, cont. (orig.?) gilt calf, both sides w. central coat of arms of Amsterdam incorporating the publisher's initials "P.V.D.B.", double fillet borders, corner ornaments, gilt and ribbed spine, a.e.g., 4to. Offsetting from turn-ins; joints splitting, spine-ends dam. and 1 corner showing. With old owner's entry "J.H.L. Broedelet" in pen on first free endpaper, we found a Jan Herman Broedelet (1831-1905) who was pharmacist in Utrecht.
BMN I, p. 380; Daems/ Vandewiele, p. 50, 57; Wittop Koning p. 58/ 60. Interesting, luxuriously executed binding, with the initials of the publisher Pieter van den Berge on both covers, possibly his own copy or a presentation copy. This pharmacology was issued by the Amsterdam Collegium Medicum, Pieter van den Berge issued an edition in 12mo in the same year. The original edition (mainly based on the Pharmacopoeia Augustana) appeared as early as 1636.
