[Pharmacopoeia. The Hague] Two (very rare) variant editions: (1) Pharmacopea Hagiensis

communi Collegii Medici ejusdem loci opera adornata. The Hague, J. Tongerloo, 1659, (14),108,(12) p., woodcut coat of arms of The Hague on title-p., cont, marbled boards, frontcover w. stamped coat of arms of Maximilian Pagl (1668-1725), abbot of Lambach, 4to. Waterst. throughout, first free endpaper almost loose, covers worn on spine and along extremities, wrinkled. Copy w. a very interesting provenance; apart from Pagl's library and an undentified library stamp, it also bears the ownership inscription of the Austrian physician Franciscus Conradus Müller (1670s) on the title-p. We found more medical works w. the Pagl/ Müller combination of former ownership. Daems & Vandewiele, p. 110-113 (also for the other edition in the lot). The first edition of the first The Hague pharmacopoeia, also published in 12mo by Tongerloo in the same year (see below), both w. the note at the end of the text dated 8 February 1658. (2) The 12mo edition mentioned above, The Hague, J. Tongerloo, 1659, (12),122,(10) p., modern boards. Some of the errata listed at the final page of the 4to edition have been corrected, no errata list present in the 12mo edition, thus the 4to edition was printed first. Our copy of the 12mo edition has the last-minute letterpress correction-slip tipped onto page 119, correcting mistakes in the text of page 105 of the 4to edition. The rarity of the work called for a facsimile, that was published in 1973.
