Cnobbaert, 1643, (32),368 p., w. engr. title by Th.I. van Merlen after A. van Diepenbeke and 50 emblems by André Pauli (or Pauwels) after Van Diepenbeke, cont. vellum, 4to. Title laid down, brown stain in inner blank margin in first quire, vellum trifle soiled. A good copy.

Landwehr 243 (3rd ed.); Praz 293. The first Dutch edition, the rare variant issue with the space recto of the 2nd leaf blank instead of being decorated w. a coat of arms. The first edition was in Latin and appeared in 1639. The fine, detailed emblems represent the vanities of the world, each vanity is opposed by a verity.
