Potter, P. (1625-1654) (after). Series of various oxen and cows in the meadow

("Het Bullenboekje"). Set of 8 etched copies in reverse, each ca. 11.8 x 16.7 cm, signed in the first plate "P. Potter in./ A. Blooteling ex."; numb. 1-8 in the plate (first etching. also numb. "No. 40" in the plate), all mounted at left margin. Very fine impressions on paper with foolscap watermark, all w. narrow margins. Hollstein XVII, 212-215 (Potter), nos. 1-8 records three (first plate four) different states of the original plates, as well as three complete copies of the series, apparently later than the present set. Our set bears the address of Abraham Blooteling (1640-1690), probably the etcher as well, a variant unknown to Hollstein (Potter and Blooteling) and to earlier authorities who have dealt with the work of the two artists.
