Sadeler (I), J. (1550-1600). Three engravings: (1) The calling of Abraham

Engraving, 21 x 26.3 cm, after Jacopo Bassano (1510/1515-1592), signed "Sculpsit autem Joann. Sadeler Belg." and "Pinxit Iacobus de Ponto Bassan" in the plate, mounted at upper corners under passe-partout. Good impression and margins. Sm. closed tear in upper margin, remnants of former mount at corners verso (visible recto). Hollstein 53. (2) Riverscape, in foreground two men rowing, on the left side a chapel on a sm. hill. Engraving, 19.7 x 27.2 cm, after Paul Bril (1553/1554-1626), signed "Joañes Sadeler scal." and "P. Bril inv?tor" in the plate, mounted at upper corners under passe-partout. Good impression, trimmed to the plate mark, smoothed-out central vertical fold. Hollstein 579. W. stamp "Dubbel R.P.K.L" (Rijksprentenkabinet Leiden, Lugt 700b, sold at auction by P. Brandt in 1948). (3) Landscape w. death and Cupid. Engraving, 21.2 x 27 cm, after Matthijs Bril (ca. 1550-1583), signed "Ioã Sadeler sculps" and "inv. Mathia Bril" and w. 6-line Latin verse in the plate, mounted at upper corners under passe-partout. Very good, later impression on rather heavy paper, w. very wide margins. Hollstein 577.
