flanked by John the Baptist and John the Evangelist, two angels kneeling before them. Engraving, 24 x 33.5 cm, after Hans von Aachen (1552-1615), signed "Ioan von Achen figura" in lower r. corner, signed "Joan. Sadl. autor et sculpt D.D. 1589" below the Latin dedication in lower margin, mounted at upper corners under passepartout. Very fine impression on paper w. watermark shield, trimmed on/ near the plate mark. W. smoothed-out central vertical fold. fold, sm. imperfections verso. W. handwritten collector's mark "P. Mariette 1669" verso (Lugt 1788, Pierre Mariette 1634-1716). Hollstein (Sadeler) 287, only state. (2) The Holy Family on its way to Nazareth. Engraving from a series of 12 prints dep. scenes from the youth of Christ, 17.7 x 12.8 cm, after Maerten de Vos (I) (1531/32-1603), signed "Martin.s de Vos inve(n)tor 1582" in lower margin, signed "Joan Sadler. sculpsit Antverpiae" below the Latin text in lower margin, mounted at upper corners under passepartout. Fine impression on the full sheet measuring 39.5 x 27 cm, w. triple crescent C watermark. W. sm. collector's initials (?) in pen just next to the lower r. corner (not in Lugt), and verso w. collector's stamps "Sammlung Dr. Will" (not in Lugt) and Lugt 4438 (unidentified). -and 11 others by the same.
