Wael (II), C. de (1592-1667). Eight prints depicting groups of people in various activities

Etchings, each approx. 11 x 15 cm, mounted at upper corners under 3 passe-partouts. All (very) good impressions on fine laid paper w. occas. parts of watermarks, w. good margins and occas. sm. imperfections. Hollstein 5, 7, 14, 15, 18, 19 and 22, 1st state (of 3) and Hollstein 11, 2nd state (of 3). All w. collector's marks of Julius Hofmann (1840-1913) (Lugt 1264) and famous Fürstlich Waldburg- Wolfegg'sches Kupferstichkabinett.* The duplicates were auctioned in by Gutekunst in Stuttgart, 1901-1903 (catalogues digitally available, probably part of lot 1666 of the first catalogue). -added: 1 other etching by Jan Baptist de Wael (1636-1697), nephew of Cornelis de Wael. *Lugt 2542: "Ce cabinet célèbre, qui appartient à la seigneurie princière de Waldburg-Wolfegg-Waldsee, actuellement en la possession de Maximilian Fürst von Waldburg zu Wolfegg und Waldsee, est l'une des plus importantes collections particulières d'estampes anciennes et de dessins qui existent. On y trouve par exemple le fameux « Hausbuch », manuscrit illustré de la 2e moitié du XVe siècle (...). Le château de Wolfegg contient aussi une admirable bibliothèque, avec d'importants ouvrages cartographiques, la célèbre mappemonde par Waldseemuller, exécutée vers 1507 (...). Les belles ventes des estampes doubles ont permis de se faire une idée de la richesse de la collection."
