Biblical scenes. Six prints: (1) Goltzius, H. (1558-1617)(after). The adoration of the shepherds

Engraving, 27 x 19.6 cm, signed "Henr. Goltzius invent", w. address "T. Galle exc." (Theodoor Galle, 1571-1633), and w. 4-line Latin verse below the image, mounted at upper corners under passe-partout. Fine impression, w. watermark shaped as crescents flanking a pillar, w. ample margins. Blank right margin strengthened (closing a tear) w. strip of paper on recto. Hollstein (after Goltzius) 11, a reduced-size copy in mirror image, not in Hollstein (published by T. Galle). (2) Jan van der Straet (1523-1605) (after). The angel predicts to Zachariah that his elderly, barren wife, Elizabeth, will bear a son named John. The 2nd print from a series of 4 dep. the history of Mozes, 20.7 x 25.8 cm, anonymous engraving after Cornelis Galle (I) (ca. 1576-1650, in his turn after Van der Straet), numb. 2 and signed "Ioan Stradaen in." in lower r. corner, w. 1-line Latin verse below the image, mounted at upper corners under passe-partout. Good impression on fine paper w. foolscap watermark, w. good margins. Hollstein (C. Galle) 124, copy. -and 4 others, incl. a fine engraving by Nicolaes Ryckemans (act. 1616-1626) after Pieter de Jode (I) (1573-1634) (Hollstein Ryckemans 8, first state (of 2)).
