Asger Jorn. Silkscreened scarf Vitalità Nell' Arte, 1959

Stunning silkscreen print in colours on silk scarf, 65 x 63 cm. Designed by Jorn for the exhibition Vitalità nell'arte, organised by Centro Internazionale delle Arti e del Costume in Venice, presented in Palazzo Grassi Venice from 8 August - 4 October 1959. Edition unknown, with sewn-in label 'Silene made in Italy'. The scarf is folded 4 cm along the right and left side as it was framed earlier, but the folds can be ironed out. Very good copy. Extremely rare.

Jorn also designed a poster for the show, with a slightly different lay out and background painting. The exhibition started at Palazzo Grassi, then subsequently travelled to Kunsthalle Recklinghausen and Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Participating artists include Alechinsky, Appel, Burri, Cesar, De Kooning, Dubuffet, Jorn, Paolozzi, Pollock, Vedova et al.
