New York, Smegmania/ Iglust Productions, 1978 - 1981. A full set of four staple-bound magazines, 28 x 21.5 cm, 22-28 pp. Printed in various colours and on various types of paper, with sticker sheets and occasional collages. No. 3 contains a flexidisc. The set comes with a complete collection of Smegma-related print productions, including 4 'supple mint' booklets, two extra large ringbound calendars for 1980 and 1981, a small calendar for 1982, and an assembling of 13 Smegma flyers and stickers. Also included is a 45 rpm flexidisc featuring the Smegmatronics, 'Hot Dog, You Bet!'. All items in excellent condition.
Smegma was among the very first montage-style punk zines, a neo-Dada underground music and art endeavour published by Torridzone Igloo (Alexander Hirka) and Scarlatina Lust. Features drawings, collages and mail art contributions by Tuli Kupferberg, Buster Cleveland, Dadaland, E.F. Higgings III, Ray Johnson, Bart Plantenga, John Potter, Cavelinni, Vittore Baroni, Moana Haggard and many more. The first issue was printed in a limited edition of only 500, the others in editions of 1000. (total 25)
