Aesthetica. Lecture notes, Abraham Kuyper, 1894

Manuscript of lecture series Esthetica by Abraham Kuyper (1837-1920), at the time of writing professor of theology and literature at the Vrije Universiteit, founded by himself. The first line mentions Kuyper's rectorial oration of 1892 and his counterpart Allard Pierson (at the time professor of esthetics at the University of Amsterdam). One of the lecture notes is dated 21 Febr. 1894. The notes cover, among other things, art history, philosophy, architecture, literature and music.

8vo, 324 numbered pp. Halfcloth, 23.5 x 15.5 cm. With inlaid woven bookmark, contains rubrications and several drawings. In good condition.
