Engraving from the series of 5 dep. females figures from the New Testament, 19 x 13.5 cm, after Hendrick Goltzius (1558-1617), signed "I. Saenredam sculpt.", "HGoltzius inventor", the address "G. Valck Exc." and w. 2-line Latin verse in the plate, mounted at upper corners under passe-partout. Good impression and margins, a fine copy. From the series Hollstein 35/ 40 and Hollstein (Goltzius) 330-335, 2nd state (of 2). W. (duplicate) stamps of the Roksprentenkabinet Amsterdam verso (Lugt 2228a and 798a, the latter sold at auction of Fr. Muller in Amsterdam, 1954). (2) Judith w. the head of Holofernes. Engraving, 28.7 x 20.2 cm, after Goltzius, signed similar to (1) in the plate, mounted at upper corners under passe-partout. Fine impression, trimmed to/ just within the plate mark. Smoothed-out central horizontal fold., remnants of former mount at left corners verso. Hollstein (Goltzius) 17, 2nd and final state. - and 3 others by and after the same.
